Coffee Rubbed NY Strip & Sweet Potato Cakes

Coffee Rubbed New York Strip
-Blackberry Brandy Sauce
-Caramelized Pearl Onions
For the Sauce:
1/3 C. Brandy
1 C. Fresh Blackberries
1 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar
1 1/2 Tbsp. Sugar

Heat brandy on high in sauce pan. Let some of the alcohol cook off, about 8 minutes. Reduce heat to medium. Add blackberries and let cook for another 10 minutes. Mush some of the blackberries to begin forming a sauce. Add apple cider vinegar and sugar. Reduce to low and let simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Serve over steaks.

For the Steaks:
2 New York Strip Steaks
2 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 C. Ground Coffee
1/2 Tbsp. Black Pepper
1-2 Tsp. Salt
1 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1 Tbsp. Butter

Coat steaks in Worcestershire Sauce. Combine coffee, black pepper and salt. Generously coat both sides of each steak with the coffee grounds mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour up to overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove steak from fridge at least 10 minutes prior to cooking. Heat olive oil on med-high heat in large pan. Place steak in hot pan and cook for 4-5 minutes per side. Pace 1/2 Tbsp. of butter on top of each steak. Place in oven while finishing other components, about 10-13 minutes.


Sweet Potato Cakes
-Cubed Purple Potatoes
-Cinnamon Yogurt Raviolis 
2 Sweet Potatoes, Cut in large Chunks
1/3 C. Purple Potatoes, Cut in very small Cubes
1 Tbsp. Butter
2 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
2 Garlic Cloves, Minced
1 Tsp. Coriander
1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
Pinch of Salt
1/2 C. Flour
1 Large Egg

1/2 C. Plain Yogurt
2 Tsp. Cinnamon
1 Tsp. Brown Sugar

2 Tbsp. Olive Oil

Steam potatoes until tender throughout. Set aside to cool. 
Meanwhile, combine yogurt, cinnamon and brown sugar. Place in the fridge until needed.
Add purple potatoes, butter, soy sauce, garlic,coriander, brown sugar, salt and flour. If this is not thick enough to combine, add a little bit more flour. Mix in the egg.
Heat olive oil in large pan on medium high heat. Make small, 2 tablesppon sized patties and place them into the pan. Press down to flatten. Cook until golden brown on each side, about 8 minutes. Place on paper towel to remove excess oil when finished cooking.
Serve with yogurt sauce.
