Simple Homemade Butter

1 C. Heavy Cream
Salt, to taste (optional)

Pour cream into a food processor. Process for about 10 minutes until the cream separates. This can also be done with a handheld blender. Strain off the liquid and save- this is buttermilk and can be used later. Press butter into a bowl to strain off any further liquid. Rinse with ice water. Mix in salt, if using.
